My Bass and Me

In the little room behind my beloved waterfall,
I found it, it was beautiful.
Brushing away the dust of the years, I learned
To lay my fingers across the wires
And to turn the keys to make them sound differently,
As I slap with my other hand, I produced my first
Harmonious sound.

Days turn into months, months turn into days,
With each pluck, pang pierces my solitude
Like the Priest's voice throughout the silent temple hall.
My soft digits are now steel with ambition,
Instead of embracing it like a father, I cradle it like a baby.

I aspire to be great as Geddy, as searing as Simmons
Like Oracles, they stand at the summit of the stairs:
A single chord, the simple riff no longer suffice,
You must mimic with a moog,
Accompany with a lead, a beat. Amplify!

A big, black box sits in the corner, pointed out at a quiet town.
The cord penetrates into my inexperienced instruments,
With the smallest touch - the coils burst into vibrate
From the soothing start to the closing climax,
I shredded and ripped out music, like it was a vulnerable lady.

The tongs and twangs rest in the centre of every song.
It doesn't light up the crowd, like the Guitars electric,
Different hearts, beat, on different strings.
On my progress, I rope my instrument around my exposed back,
There is now a place in this world
For my Bass and Me.

The media is PermaJet's Ultra Pearl. PermaJet state the paper is 295gsm, has a super ultra pearl finish, a high water resistance together with being scratch resistant and anti-scruff properties.
